The soundtrack of your day, as a sticker book.
Life Music notices the music playing around you, works out the song, and sticks it onto your day with the time and the place. Over months and years it becomes your own soundtrack: what you heard, when, and where.
For Android. The app is in testing; the download opens here once it's ready.
How it works
Turn listening on once. The app does the rest in the background, with a notification that shows it's on.
-
It hears the music around you
Every so often, Life Music listens for a few seconds. A small model on the phone checks whether what it hears is music. Only then does it work out which song is playing. Pause or stop any time, from the app or the notification.
If you like, it can also note what's playing in music apps on the phone.
-
Places and trips land on your timeline
Each song is stuck onto your day with its time and place. Every place gets its own colour sticker, on the map and in the list, so you can see at a glance what played where.
Songs heard on the move are grouped into trips: by car, on foot, by boat or by plane. Scroll back through days, weeks and years, or search for a song and see everywhere you heard it.
-
Your audio never leaves the phone
The sound is processed only in the phone's memory and thrown away within seconds. It is never saved and never sent anywhere, not to us and not to anyone else.
To name a song, only a song fingerprint goes to the music recognition service: a compact signature worked out on the phone, not a recording. Your history (songs, times and places) is yours to export or delete.
Read what goes whererecordings saved. Sound lives in memory for seconds, then it's gone.
- Never: Audio to storage, to us or to anyone
- Only: A song fingerprint, to the recognition service
- Only: Song, time and place, to your Life Music account when you sign in to sync
Make it yours
